On December 5, 2011, the latest addition to the Geology Museum at Lafayette College was installed.

The roughly 4000 pound, 2.7 billion year old orbicular granite monolith, from Mount Magnet, Western Australia, arrived at its new home. This piece is polished on the front showing the mineralogy within the rock, and the layered spheroidal structures. The rear of the specimen is the raw form, in which the orbicules can be seen at various stages of weathering in the rock.
