Dr. Florence Bascom: Pioneer Geologist

Florence Bascom helped lead the way for women in the geosciences.  Dr. Florence Bascom was the second woman to earn a Ph.D. in Geology in the United States (1893), and the very first woman hired by the United States Geological Survey (1896).
